Before You Begin

Transition Period
If your hair has been chemically treated or exposed to silicones (“cones”) or heavy synthetic products, allow up to 30 days for your hair to fully adjust to natural care.

When to Use This Shampoo Bar

Use whenever your hair or scalp needs a reset:

  • Hair feels weighed down or overly oily
  • Scalp is itchy or irritated
  • Noticeable buildup or “scalp gunk”
  • Dandruff or flaking
  • Unpleasant odor
  • Or anytime you want a clean, fresh foundation

Understanding Buildup

This is typically a mix of natural sebum and product buildup caused by infrequent washing—especially when using moisturizing products.

👉 Recommendation: Cleanse at least once per week.

This formula is gentle and non-stripping, yet effective at removing buildup.

Step-by-Step Application

Step 1: Section Your Hair

  • Thin to medium hair: divide into 4 sections
  • Thick hair: divide into 6–9 sections
  • Straight hair: sectioning optional

Optional Shine Boost:

Apply a small amount of your favorite oil to each section before wetting.

Step 2: Fully Saturate Hair

Wet each section thoroughly.

Step 3: Activate the Bar

Wet the shampoo bar to create lather.

Choose Your Wash Method

Light Cleanse (Low Buildup)

Best for: light oils, gels, and minimal buildup

  • Rub the bar between hands
  • Apply suds to scalp using fingertips
  • Gently massage in all directions
  • Work remaining suds halfway down hair

Rinse thoroughly

Medium Cleanse (Moderate Buildup)

Best for: oils, butters, light dandruff, product residue

  • Apply wet bar directly to scalp and roots
  • Massage gently until clean
  • Use extra product where needed
  • Work suds halfway down hair

Rinse thoroughly

Deep Cleanse (Heavy Buildup)

Best for: heavy oils, waxy buildup, dandruff, silicones

  • Apply bar directly to scalp, roots, and down hair length
  • Avoid applying directly to ends
  • Build and work lather through scalp and hair

Rinse thoroughly

Note:

If lather is difficult to achieve, buildup is likely heavy. Continue cleansing or consider a deeper detox treatment.

After Cleansing

  • Apply your favorite conditioner
  • Rinse and style as usual

Conditioning Guide

  • Fine or fragile hair: Use a regular protein conditioner
  • Heat-styled or chemically treated hair: Use an intensive protein conditioner

Additional Guidance

If buildup persists after washing:

  • Increase wash frequency
  • Consider a deep detox treatment (such as a clay wash)
  • Maintain a consistent cleansing routine

General Recommendation:

  • Weekly cleansing for most routines
  • Bi-weekly may work for low-product, low-sebum hair types
